He was getting on a bit (he was 18!) and not in great health, so I decided I wanted to draw him so that I'd have a lovely keepsake of him to treasure alongside all my photos and memories when he was no longer with us. (He has since sadly died and I miss him dreadfully)

I have always enjoyed art and drawing and when the struggles and anxiety caused by the challenges of 2020 and the pandemic threatened to swallow me whole, I began focusing on it more and it helped me cope, whilst also relaxing me and giving me joy.

IT ALL STARTED WITH JASPER...

Or Dogbert as he was affectionately known at home.

My beloved Staffordshire bull terrier.

After I drew our dog, my husband was very keen to post it on his social media accounts (I didn't have any at that time) and within an hour someone had enquired about a commission.

That very first enquiry gave me the confidence to believe that more people would, like me, want a custom keepsake drawing of their pet or as a gift for someone and perhaps my art could offer comfort and happiness, particularly if they are grieving the loss of an adored pet. Since then I've continued with my art, developing my skill and enjoying drawing a wide variety of subjects.
